Scout To Eagle is a blog I created to tell you all about my Boy Scout experience. I will keep you updated with how many ranks there are, what rank I am, how to achieve each rank, and Boy Scout stories.
Imagine this senario! You are stuck in the middle of the woods, it's snowing and you only a few provisons: A tarp, a tobbogan, 10 matches, a knife, and food. How do you survive? When I get 10 comments then I will answer.
Well, first of all I hope to never be in that situation! If I was, then I would have already made sure that someone I trust, knew what my itenerary was and I would feel confident that if I kept my wits about me, I would be rescued within a short time! The first thing I would do would be to make a warm dry shelter. I would search for any caves, natural dugouts, etc. then I would try to secure as much dry firewood as possible. I would take inventory of my food and plan out how much I could eat each day in order to survive for the longest period if help did not arrive. I would also do lots of jumping jacks or other excercises to stay warm! I would not wander far from where I made my base camp. If someone was searching for me, I wouldn't want to be a moving target, which would make it harder for them to find me! I would try to get as high up as I could to get a layout of the surrounding area! Maybe I could see an old cabin, distant house, or a road. But before I did anything, and this is by far the most important thing I could do, I would take a few minutes to breath, relax and I would pray for God's strength, wisdom, and courage! I think that would be the best thing I could possibly do! This was fun to think about! Thanks Clay
Great question! I think that first of all, I would pray to God for wisdom and help. Then since I told someone where I was going to be, I would patiently wait for help.
I would look for shelter, maybe a cave or under trees, something that would protect me from the weather. I would just make sure that I had something visable if I was in a cave, so that people could see it.
I would ration out my food and make sure that I did not let my fire go out, so that my matches would last.
I would either use the tarp as a ground cover or as a tent. It would be nice if it were a bright color, so others could spot me easier.
Maybe with the knife I would whittle to pass the hours. I would also try to exercise lightly to stay warm.
Good answers. I loved them both, but what if you did not tell anybody were you were going? I liked that both of you said that the first action would be to pray. Thanks, Clay
